The noble Moses, upon him be peace, inquires:
O Lord, if You are distant, I will call out to You; if You are near; I will confide in You with intimate tones.
Allah Most High answers:
I am the intimate Friend of the persons who practice Divine Remembrance by repeating My Name, and I always keep company with them.
What is the act of devotion You prefer over all others, O Lord?
That you extend the repetition of My Name into every conscious state.
(This khabar was transmitted through the sage al-Maqburi and is recorded in Ibn Arabi's Mishkat al-Anwar)
