Agate, which is the main gemstone of this prayer bead set, is a type of beautiful banded chalcedony composed of extremely fine intergrowths of moganite and quartz. Its color ranges from fiery translucent reds to shades of browns and each bead has a waxy luster.
Historically, agate has long been considered to have protective properties for its holder. The Ancient Babylonians believed that it could be used to ward off evil and homes would display agate for this purpose.
Within Islam and according to hadith literature, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ wore a ring made of silver with a red agate gemstone. Red agate is considered to have properties that promote the spiritual love of good along with protection and peace.
Combined with rare Red Sea black coral, Rumi's Garden brings to you this unique prayer bead made of red aqeeq. The tasbih was made in cooperation with a workshop based in Egypt and the tassel-work was commissioned to West African students of Al-Azhar University.
