Description of 6 x 8 mm Coquilla Nut (kuk, kaukah, cuk, كوك) Tasbih
The coquilla nut, called kuk in Arabic, is a nearly solid, elongated fruit that comes from the blessed attalea palm. Although similar in many qualities to the coconut, it comes from a different species of trees. Its healing properties are wide in range and include the removal of negative energies from the body.
According to Islamic mythology, when Prophet Noah came to build the Ark, he had doubts about how to accomplish this. God revealed to him that its shape should resemble a bird's belly. While some oral traditions say that he was instructed to build it from the attalea palm, other scholars, such as Abd Allah ibn Abbas, mention teak. Oral tradition has also passed down that Prophet Solomon used the properties of this blessed tree to gain mastery over the jinn.
Through a tasbih guild that has been running for five generations, Rumi's Garden has had the opportunity to bring you a multifaceted kuk prayer bead. The beads show a high level of craftsmanship and the yellow and green tasseling was accomplished by West African Azhari students who have learnt their craft from their forefathers.
Each kuk tasbih produced by Rumi’s Garden uses the highest quality natural materials which leaves room for minor variations in bead size, color, markings and shape.
