Framed Art Panel | Prophet Muhammad’s Sandal depicting the Holy Ka’aba & Maqam Ibrahim

€95,00

Description Sacred Naalain of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ with Holy Ka’aba

This beautiful art panel is a reproduction of a late 1700s or early 1800s outline of a traditional depiction of the Prophetic Sandal with its well-known pointed form. The original painting was created using body-color (gauche) and is located in illustrated Maghrebi manuscript.

The Naalain encompasses a diagram of the Holy Ka'aba and the Maqam Ibrahim. A geometric interlocking square design is located at the mid-foot section. The outline of the sandal is bordered with prayers in white Maghrebi script reserved against a blue ground. The spandrels with geometric Kufic squares are inscribed with the phrase 'barakat Muhammad', meaning 'the blessings of Muhammad' and contain polychrome floral illumination.
Ibn Asakir, iin his writings about the benefits of the Prophetic sandal image, states that its owner will be protected from oppression and will have victory over enemies. He stresses that it is a talisman (taweez) against the devil and its power wards off jealousy, envy and the evil eye. He also recommends that women, during childbirth, should hold an image of the Naal for it brings with it Allah's strength and power for protection and safety. This ritual still continues in many traditional Islamic societies till today.
