Description of Traditional Indonesian Kain
A kain literally translates to 'long cloth' in the Malay language and is used as a hip wrapper. The layout has many variations determined by regional preferences and by fashion. Amongst the traditional methods of print design, batik, ikat, songket, and other kinds of weaving are often employed. The kain is one of the more colourful forms of dress that has been integrated into Islamic wear over the last centuries. It has also become popular in contemporary fashion.
