Agarwood, a fragrant and dark resinous heartwood, has always been considered a valuable treasure amongst Islamic prayer bead makers. With many healing properties, agarwood fragrance is referred to in several ahadith, by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, as Oud Hindi. Its properties act as a stimulant and tonic that can place one in a deep meditative state.
This particular oud sibha has been skillfully handcrafted by a fifth generation tasbih guild that was founded in the vicinity of the Mosque of Imam Husain in Egypt. It contains the wonderful perfume of the wood which becomes stronger when the beads are rubbed together. The tassels were braided by a group of West African students who study at al-Azhar University.
Each agarwood tasbih is handmade using only the highest quality natural materials so some minor variations in bead size, color, markings and shape is expected and reflects the individual and organic beauty of each tasbih set.
