Description of Coquilla Nut (Kuk) Tasbih
The coquilla nut is born from the attalea palm and has a resemblance to the coconut although it is smaller in size and harder. The glorious palm itself takes many years to mature; when its branches are cut, they can take over a hundred years to grow to their former state. Within various cultures, the mysterious coquilla nut has been revered for its healing qualities.
Doctors during the times of the Ottomans would always carry coquilla nut and use it for its properties of cleansing. There have also been oral traditions passed down that Prophet Solomon (AS) would use the attalea palm to control jinn. Many mashayakh have also recommended that one wears a ring or carries a tasbih made from kuk for protection from the unseen realms and negative psychic forces.
It is with great pleasure that Rumi's Garden brings to you this 100 bead coquilla nut tasbih that is finely crafted with its dark brown and golden tassels. The beads are smooth to the touch and as one bead falls on top of the next, a clicking sound is made that often helps the meditator concentrate because of the rhythm.
This tasbih set was commissioned to a 5th generation subha guild based in Cairo that only uses the highest quality materials. The tassels were made by West African Azhari students who have learnt their craft from their forefathers.
