Description of the Riadh al-Jannah (Rawdah ash-Sharifah) Ka'aba Carpet Framed Set
The following set is composed of two carpet fragments:
A framed green Riadh al-Jannah (Rawdah ash-Sharifah) carpet, measuring 15 x 15 cm, is an authentic fragment of an original older 4-meter Rawdah ash-Sharifah prayer runner that was removed during the time of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, from Al-Masjid al-Nabawi in the year 1433 Hijri (c. 2012). The Riadh al-Jannah, which translates to the Gardens of Paradise, is located in the heart of Masjid an-Nabawi. It is a small area stretching from the burial site of our Prophet ﷺ to his blessed minbar. Approximately 22 x 15 meters in size, pilgrims often attempt to visit the confines of this space since a Prophetic hadith states that supplications and prayers uttered here are always answered.
A framed green Holy Ka’aba carpet, measuring 15 x 15 cm, is an authentic fragment of an original 4-meter prayer runner that was removed during the time of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, from the Holy Ka’aba area in the year 1435 Hijri (c. 2013). Prior to 2013, the Holy Ka'aba runner carpets containing a blue border surrounding the main green design, such as this one, indicated that it was used beside the Holy Ka'aba or where the Imam leads the prayer which makes it a rare piece.
