Description of Oud Salib (عود صليب) Tasbih
The root of the paeonia officinalis perennial plant is called Oud Salib (عود صليب) in Arabic which literally translates to 'hard wood'. Oud Salib has been mentioned in much classical literature including Ibn Sina's (Avicenna) 'The Canon of Medicine'. Some of its uses have been for treatments of anxiety, fear, and general tension, cleansing the digestive and respiratory tracts, treating diseases that affect the liver, and for protection from bad dreams, magic, and unseen negative forces such as jinn.
It is with enormous delight that Rumi’s Garden brings to you this beautiful Oud Salib tasbih which was created by an Islamic tasbih guild based in Cairo. The guild has been running for five generations and continues to mentor future prayer bead craftsmen. Each prayer bead set is uniquely handmade with the finest materials and the tassels were created by Azhari students who mastered their craft under the apprenticeship of their forefathers.
