Description of Wool Stole from Kullu, India
This beautiful beige stole is approximately 70 cm x 200 cm in size and can be worn by men or women. It was hand-woven from wool using traditional techniques of the high Himalayas which are centuries old. The wool of the whole shawl was hand-spun and the colorful border, consisting of bright geometric patterns, is typical of ancient Kullu designs. The dyes used on the border were made from natural plants. This stole is a one of a kind, unique piece.
This handmade stole may have slight variations in the appearance which adds to the characteristic beauty of the textile.
It is with great honor that Rumi's Garden has collaborated with a weavers' cooperative from North India, founded over 80 years ago, and that is a recipient of a National Award from the Government of India for their excellent hand loom products.
Maintaining Your Stole
To maintain the stole, hand-wash it with a small amount of mild wool/ silk soap or delicate non-biological wool detergent. Do not dry cleaning. Do not tumble dry. The wool softens after a wash and continues to do so with time.
