Composed mainly of intricate golden floral designs set to a black background, this uppermost layout of this unique style of hilye consists of a roundel on top of a dome. Within the roundel are the two testimonies of faith scripted on two separate lines:
لا إله إلا الله
محمد رسول الله
There is no deity but God;
Muhammad is the messenger of God.
The headpiece contains a wonderful hadith attributed to Sayidna Ali that translates to:
He who sees my hilya after me, it is as if he has actually seen me, and he who sees it out of love and desire for me, God will forbid the fire of Hell to touch him; he will be safe from the trials of the grave, and he will not be sent forth naked on the day of resurrection.
(al Tirmidhi)
Surrounding the main description of the Last Messenger of Allah ﷺ, are 14 roundels that contain the following; Allah, Muhammad, Hassan, Hussain, and the 10 companions promised Paradise (Arabic: العشرة المبشرون بالجنة, al-`Asharaa al-Mubasharûn bi-l-Janna). According to Jamiʿ at-Tirmidhi the hadith about The Ten With Glad Tidings of Paradise states the following:
Abu Bakr is in Paradise, ʿUmar is in Paradise, ʿUthman is in Paradise, ʿAli is in Paradise, Talhah is in Paradise, Al-Zubair is in Paradise, ʿAbdur-Rahman bin ʿAwf is in Paradise, Saʿd bin Abi Waqqas is in Paradise, Saʿeed is in Paradise, Abu ʿUbaidah bin Al-Jarrah is in Paradise.
Within the main oval roundel is the famous description of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ narrated by Sayidna Ali, and reported in Imam al-Tirmidhi’s Shamail al-Muhammadiyyah which states:
He was neither excessively tall. Nor extremely short. But rather was of a medium stature among (his) people. His hair was neither extremely curly. Nor straight. But rather it was wavy and flowing. He was neither corpulent. Nor was his face completely circular. But it was slightly rounded. His complexion was fair with some redness. His eyes were very black, his eyelashes were long. His joints were large and his shoulders broad. He was smooth-skinned; a thin line of hair ran from his chest to his navel. His hands and feet were full-fleshed and sturdy. He walked with vigor, as though descending from a height. When he turned to look at someone or something, he would turn with his whole person. Between his shoulders was the Seal of Prophethood. And he is the Seal of the Prophets. His heart was the soundest and most generous of hearts. His speech is the most truthful of speech. He was the gentlest of people. And the kindest of them in companionship. Whoever saw him unexpectedly would be awe-stricken. Whoever came to know him would love him. Whoever described him would say, “I saw neither before him or after him anyone like him”.
The bottom large script consists of the Quranic ayah from Surah al-Qalam [68:4]:
وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ
And verily of an immense magnitude is thy nature.
