There is a famous incident that occurred when a wealthy man from Sfax, in Tunisia, offered her to travel to revive Ramadan nights for 1000 Egyptian pounds. This was a huge sum of money at the time and she refused his offer. The man instead decided to come to Cairo to enjoy her sweet voice upon refusal.
Shaykha Munira Abdu was the first certified reader on Egyptian radio, starting from 1934, and she was paid a wage of 5 pounds. She also has recording on Paris and London radio stations.
