The border around the pendant is made from silver.Within Islam, it is reported that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ wore a silver ring with an Abyssinian stone which was most likely made from carnelian. Islamic tradition also mentions that Sayidna Ali ibn Abi Talib wore carnelian as a protection from enemies and misfortune. Most often, protective talisman include verses from the Holy Koran. Concerning Ayah al Kursi, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ identified it as the greatest verse in the Holy Book and said that it was 'a fourth of the Koran'.The following is a translation of Ayah al-Kursi (The Throne Verse):
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Allah! There is no God but He, the Living, the Self-subsisting, the Eternal. No slumber can seize Him, nor sleep. All things in heaven and earth are His. Who could intercede in His presence without His permission? He knows what appears in front of and behind His creatures. Nor can they encompass any knowledge of Him except what he wills. His throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them, for He is the Highest and Most Exalted. Allah, the Most High, speaks the truth.
